Choosing a Wedding Couture

Since I started to plan our Church wedding, the gown of the bride always got my interest. I actually become more familiar on the name of those famous couture designer than focusing on searching the major suppliers like church, venue, caterer etc.

But when I started emailing them and saw their rates, then I realized one thing..... Wedding is not about the dress of the bride... hahahaha. But it is about on how you and your partner together with your relatives and friends will glorify God on that day.

I am not saying that choosing them as your couture means they are not worthy but  if the budget will matter, then do not push. Even my husband gave me a go signal to get Veejay or Cecilio, I am still thinking if I really need to wear a dress that will costs 150k above. I know there are lots of things we have to consider in preparation of our wedding. And I am afraid that most of our budget will put to my dress.

Yes we actually spend a lot of budget to our PV, but you can call them as an investment. Because you can play it and see it anytime you want. Compare to a gown which you cannot wear on other occasion. You will just keep it in your closet until it will grow stale.

But if I will choose who I want to get? It's Veejay Floresca since Veluz is a way out of our budget. Here are the quotations I got from different wedding couture:

Michael Cinco (Dubai-based Filipino designer): 50,000 to 60,000 aed = Php575k to 690k
Veluz: 200k to 400k
Francis Libiran: 150k
Jasel Sy: 75k to 85k
Edward Teng: 65k MAVIC gown
Esposa: (Lebanese designer based in Dubai) $3,500 to $6,000 = 175k to 300k
Camille Garcia: 50k
Cecilio Abad: 100k to 150k

As a bride, it is very important for us to look good during that day. Because having a beautiful dress will give you confidence and will enhance your beauty. That's why I cannot blame other bride who are willing to spend a lot of budget on their gowns. There is one tip I will advise, do not let your gown to cover your beauty during that day. Because instead of focusing on your beauty, they may just question your motives for purchasing that dress. So aim that your wedding dress will just give you confidence that you are beautiful on that day than having a feeling that "I am beautiful because of my dress" ;)

Preferably, our budget for my wedding gown is 20k to 30k but I think this budget will not give me a good fabric. Just like what Veluz told me, it is the fabric and details makes the gown expensive.

So I've searched and searched a couture designer who have a good portfolio but won't exceed to 100k. On my next post I will reveal her name :)

  5. Ate, I've been reading your blog. Since i just got engaged and have no idea yet about how or what to do yet. It has been very helpful and inspiring.

Im aiming for a wedding gown probably around 30k lng din since i dont get why anyone should spend more than that tlga its not like i'll be wearing it again anyways. But again baka magexceed din ako sa budget. Hahaha. If you find someone that's good and is at that price range can you email me the contact details? Angelialibudbud@gmail.com

    Thank you!
Good luck and God bless your wedding!:)

    1. Hi Angeli, thank you for making my blog as your reference. It is not easy to plan for the wedding. The more the date is near, the more you think you want to cancel or stop na lang. hahahaha because of too much expenses and requirements you need to fix.

For the couture, I am always referring Mel Orlina to the readers of my blog. Supposedly, I wanted her to do the my wedding gown coz she quoted me 65k on the design I liked. Unfortunately, I had this last minute decision (3 months before my wedding) to book her because I am thinking to rent or buy a wedding gown n lang since I don't want to keep it after. But Mel is already full booked for the month of June. (I think it's because I refer her a lot of clients. hahaha ako tuloy nawalan ng slot.)

But anyway, I don't want to push something if it's not really meant because this will just give me stress and regrets. Here's her FB page: https://www.facebook.com/MelOrlinaCouture?ref=ts&fref=ts

I am currently living in Dubai. I contacted Von Lazaro (Manila-based designer too) and he quoted me 70k but I am thinking that we don't have much time to do the fitting because our flight is a week before the wedding. I decided to find couture here in Dubai and I found one located in Deira. His quote is actually higher than the 2 but what will I do? It's in dirhams rate.

Anyway, I hope you can decide soon and hopefully this will be helpful for you to decide.

    1. Hi Ghia, thank you for appreciating my blog even I am not a good writer. hehehe Anyway, it's been a long time since I didn't update this blog, I was too busy kasi at work and at the same time on the preparation. I don't have the mood to update baka magreflect lang ung hassle that I have right now. hahahhaa

My couture should be Ms. Mel Orlina: https://www.facebook.com/MelOrlinaCouture?ref=ts&fref=ts
but she is already fully booked for the month of June. I just decided to book her 3 months before the wedding eh hehe pasaway! even it's 65l yung quote nya, nanghihinayang pa din ako because it's only 1 day. But since it's my day, I think I deserve to have my personalized dress. I've ended up to look filipi no-couture here in Dubai although the rate is a bit higher. I have the feeling that he can do it. His name is Bhong and his shop is located in Deira, Dubai.

      Happy preps sis!

    1. Hi sis, thank you for appreciating my blog. This is the reason why I created this blog. To list all my suppliers which I inquired so it would be helpful also to the readers. When searching supplier, it is very important to know agad is their rates. If it 's under budget or if it's too high, then we can change our minds not to love too much on their works. hahaha!

Here's the contact details of Ms. Mel:
2nd floor (unit 201), Dona Consolacion Bldg., 122 Jupiter St., Bel-Air Village
      1209 Makati
      Phone 027520312
      Email melorlinacouture@gmail.com
      Website http://www.melorlina.com

I will surely update this blog. My next entry would be the rates of MakeUp Artist. I will post it once I booked one. I am very choosy din kasi because I am measuring the expenses and the quality of their works. It happens that those suppliers that I liked are usually expensive that is why it tool me weeks and months to decide before I book them :D. You still have more time! enjoy mo lang ang planning and yup keep reading my blog! happy preps!

  9. Hi ms ruth, same as you im also working abroad. Actually im planning to get the comphrehensive package that glass garden offers kasama na ung bridal gown made by camille garcia. But im wondering kung saan naman ako magpapagawa ng entourage gowns? Any idea? Pls email me @ charmgeil@gmail.com. Thanks..

  10. Hi Charmaine,

Camille Garcia is also good. Just give her unique style para hindi mukhang parepareho ung gown. Nowadays, I noticed that most of the wedding gowns are the same style na lang. That is why I made mine very different. hehehe. For the entourage gowns, if you are on a budget but you want to have the same pantone color para mas maganda sa pictures, I suggest un sa cheesecake infinity gowns. But if you have budget like 5,000 php each, you can find over the net a very good couture/ designers.
