When Envy Hits Close to Home: Understanding the Power of the Evil Eye

Image
The so-called evil eye often becomes more real when we allow people who envy us to live too close or gain too much access to our lives. It may sound uncomfortable, but proximity is what fuels it. The ones who envy us are rarely strangers on the street. More often, it’s the people closest — friends, relatives, even neighbors — who know our routines, hear about our plans, see our children, our meals, our small celebrations. Those everyday details can easily become seeds of jealousy. Think about it: On social media, someone may copy your posts, mirror your captions, or constantly watch your updates. At first it feels flattering, as if they’re inspired by you. But over time, envy can twist inspiration into silent competition. In daily life, when someone has access to your home or spends too much time in your personal space, they see what others don’t. They witness your wins and your private joys. And sometimes, instead of celebrating with you, that information becomes the very thin...

This Story Has No Missing Pages: Let's Move Out and Move On

Image
Sometimes in life, we find ourselves living in situations that used to feel comfortable, warm, and familiar — until something changes. It might be a friendship that slowly fades, a shared space that turns tense, or an unspoken misunderstanding that builds invisible walls. We hold onto the memories of better times, replaying them like old movies, wondering where exactly the story shifted. We ask ourselves: Was it something I did? Something they felt? Could I have changed the ending if I tried harder? But here’s the truth: not every story needs a perfect resolution. The Myth of the “Perfect Ending” We’re taught to believe that every relationship or chapter in our lives should wrap up neatly — with explanations, apologies, and mutual closure. In reality, life doesn’t always work like that. Some people will walk with us for only part of the journey. Some endings won’t be clean; they’ll simply fade into silence. And that’s okay. Choosing to Close the Chapter When I found myself in a...

Do You Believe in the Evil Eye?

Image
Do you believe in the evil eye? Some call it envy. Others say it’s just coincidence. But there are moments in life when things suddenly shift — unexpected challenges, constant delays, or a heavy feeling you can’t explain. It makes you wonder: Is someone secretly wishing harm on me? Whether you believe it or not, envy is real, and sometimes it comes from people you least expect — even those who smile with you. In my next post, I’ll share a personal experience where I strongly felt the impact of envy, how I discerned who it came from, and most importantly, how I dealt with it spiritually, without fear or bitterness. Sometimes, protection doesn't mean hiding — it means recognizing what's unseen and choosing to fight it the right way: through prayer, wisdom, and God’s covering.

Living Apart from Our Kids: What It Taught Us About Parenting and Sacrifice

Image
If you had told me years ago that I would live away from my children for a season of their lives, I would have said, “Never. I can’t do that.” But life has a way of humbling us, stretching us, and showing us what real sacrifice looks like. Back in 2018, both my husband Julius and I were hit hard by unexpected career changes. My company of 7 years decided to move the entire marketing department to Cyprus, and though it was an opportunity on paper, none of us were transferred. My boss knew we had families here in Dubai and gently told us that life there might not be for us. Around the same time, Julius’ company decided to outsource his role, which meant losing his family benefits, including our health insurance. That hit us hard. It wasn’t just a financial blow — it was an emotional one, too. We had three children to think about, and suddenly, everything we built started to feel unstable. After many prayers and painful conversations, we made the hardest decision of our lives — to s...

After 10 Years, I'm Back — And Here's Why I’m Writing Again

Image
Hello again, dear readers! It’s been 10 years since I last posted here. What started as a simple online diary during our church wedding preparations in the Philippines has now become a precious part of our story. I never imagined that one day, I’d return to this blog with a decade’s worth of real-life stories, challenges, and lessons learned through faith. Back then, we had already been married for 9 years before we had our church wedding. At that time, we thought we had seen enough of life. But looking back now, we realize — God was just beginning to strengthen us, and our relationship was about to go through deeper growth. Through trials, parenting, career shifts, and moments of uncertainty, our faith was tested and refined. We’ve faced days where all we could do was pray and trust — and that trust carried us through. One of our biggest challenges came in 2018. Both our careers were shaken. My company, where I had worked for 7 years, decided to relocate its marketing department t...
